"The Little Prince" International Trailer

The International trailer for "The Little Prince" directed by Mark Osbourne has finally been released! Unfortunately for English speakers, it's in french but I'm assuming a English trailer will be released soon.

It's great to finally start to see trailers and promotional materials be released to the public, this movie was amazing to work on and hopefully it will be received well around the world.

There's a Man in the Woods

Haven't had the chance to post anything in a while but I felt I had to share this short film by Calarts Student Jacob Streilein entitled "There's a Man in the Woods". Thought provoking, intense and with perfectly themed music I really enjoyed this.

Cloudy 2 Whiteboard

During my time on "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" I decided to have a collaborative drawing whiteboard, and also something to remind me of when cutoff for director review was (as it usually changed daily). The idea was I would start with a blank whiteboard on Monday morning and either leave it till someone would start drawing upon Dan desk visit, or I would start with something small and simple which would grow by Friday (or Saturday).

Little Quentin

An amazing short entitled "Little Quentin" directed by Albert 't Hooft & Paco Vink from Anikey Studios

I love the style of this, it's like a mix of Tim Schafer's "Full Throttle" and Sam Kieth's "The Maxx" combined with film noir! Fwah, awesomes.

Joe Bowers Interview Frame by Frame

Frame by frame breakdown of scenes animated by Joe Bowers on Disney's "Tangled". Very cool and detailed analysis from Joe Bowers himself, detailing Glen Keane's involvement in making his shots even better, and how he overcame some tough and challenging shots. There's also a section on Joe's work on Disney's "Bolt".

While on John Carter in London, Animation Supervisor Clay Kaytis from Disney stopped by to do his "Tangled" talk, and showed us some examples of Glen Keane's drawings over already really good poses. It was mind explodingly awesome to say the least. To work under Glen Keane's direction would've been amazing.

Eclipse - short film

Wow this short film from Gobelins students is amazing. I love the lack of dialogue, it's classic sci fi feel, tone and mood. It reminds me of the old Lucasarts game "The Dig". This has some great cinematography as well. I love the shot at 2:24.

Watch it in HD full screen with the music loud, it's worth it for it's haunting soundtrack, which has an 80's sci fi touch to it. Reminds me of the original "Tron" in parts, with a touch of "Alien".

Really awesome work.

Dreamworks "Me and My Shadow"

First poster look at forthcoming Dreamworks animated movie "Me and My Shadow" directed by Alessandro Carloni (How to Train your Dragon). The premise sounds cool and the idea of using 3d and 2d animation makes me really intrigued to see how this looks.

Murder - Short film by Yang Tzu Ting

Short film entitled "Murder" Yang Tzu Ting. Dark and disturbing with a very cool Frank Miller "Sin City" style to it.

Interesting concept, reminds me of the movie "The Prestige".

What's your interpretation of the ending?

Kagemono: The Shadow Folk

Short film from Cal Arts artist Sabrina Cotugno entitled "Kagemono: The Shadow Folk"

Louis Gonzales interview

Great interview led by Bobby Chiu with story artist Louis Gonzales from the "Schoolism" website. I really like how he describes silhouettes as verbs that he aims to communicate the pose as clear as possible.

check it out here, its well worth the 40 minute listen:
